Privacy policy
Last updated:
In short: no account, no ads, no advertising trackers. Your settings stay in your browser. Anything optional happens only if you allow it, and you can change your mind at any time.
Who we are
SkinSwatch (this website) is run by Przemysław Radko, who is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
Browsing the site
You can use SkinSwatch without an account and without telling us who you are. Like every web server, ours receives your IP address, your browser (user agent) and the address of the page you open, which it needs to send you the page. It may write them to short-lived technical logs used to run the site and keep it secure, never to profile you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, secure site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks, so it processes the same technical data under its own privacy policy. Item images and renders load from our own server and our own storage.
Usage statistics and error reports (PostHog)
Only if you allow "Statistics and error reports", the site collects statistics on how it is used, so we can see what works and fix what does not. It collects:
- the pages you open (address, the page you came from, the item, color or weapon it shows, the language);
- what you do on them: the search filters you settle on (whether you typed a name, never what you typed), the items you open, copying an in-game command or a loadout link;
- clicks that do nothing, to find things that look clickable but are not;
- how fast pages load (web vitals) and errors in the site's code;
- your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, time zone and country.
How statistics are sent and kept
This is linked to a random ID kept in your browser (see the table below), not to your name. It is sent to PostHog (PostHog Inc., stored in the EU) through SkinSwatch's own server, which passes on only the data itself: PostHog does not receive your IP address, cookies or browser headers. Your country comes from our CDN (Cloudflare), which reads it from your IP address; the address itself is not passed on. Without your consent the site sends nothing to PostHog and does not even load its code.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, for keeping the ID in your browser, the rules on access to end devices: in Poland Art. 399 of the Electronic Communications Law). Withdrawing it stops sending at once and deletes PostHog's IDs from your browser.
PostHog keeps statistics and error reports for up to 7 years, the retention of our PostHog plan, which cannot be set shorter. We look at them to see how the site is used and what breaks, never to identify you or for advertising. To have yours deleted earlier, write to us.
Errors on our servers
When something fails on our server (a page that cannot be built, a price source that does not answer), the server sends PostHog an error report: what failed, in which part of the site and when. It does not contain your IP address, cookies, browser details, the address you opened with its parameters or anything that identifies you; contacts and addresses that slip into an error message are removed before it leaves. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These reports are sent whatever you choose in the consent notice and are kept for up to 7 years like the statistics.
Cookies and storage in your browser
Your settings stay in your browser. Only the cookies below are sent to our server, which needs them to show the page in your language and to remember your choice in the consent notice. They are strictly necessary, so they need no consent. With your consent to statistics, PostHog's IDs are kept in your browser's storage too (not in cookies). We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
| Name | Kind | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
lang | cookie | the language you picked | 1 year |
consent | cookie | your choice in the consent notice and when you made it | 182 days, then we ask again |
currency, loadouts, settings | local storage | your currency, saved loadouts and the settings of the search and the builder | until you clear them |
ph_… | local storage | only with consent to statistics: the random ID of your browser and of your visit, for PostHog | until you withdraw consent (they are deleted then) or clear them |
ph_… | session storage | only with consent to statistics: the ID of the open tab, for PostHog | until the tab is closed |
Your choice and your rights
The consent notice asks for one optional consent, "Statistics and error reports". It is off until you turn it on. Nothing optional runs before you choose. You can give or withdraw consent here or under "Privacy settings" in the footer at any time; withdrawing does not affect what was sent before.
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing and to receive it in a portable form. Since we do not know who you are, tell us what to look for (for example the date of your visit). You can also complain to a data protection authority, in Poland the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
You have not chosen yet, so statistics and error reports are off.
